The Silver Bell of Mistveil
Episode 4: Waves of Bronze
The sky above Mistveil turned a deep, bruised purple as a massive wave of solid bronze energy rolled across the horizon, flattening the village buildings and the cathedral spire like paper models. Silas ran toward the cliffs, realizing that the acoustic anomaly was expanding, threatening to consume the entire coastline if the bell was not rung to release the accumulated pressure. He turned and sprinted back up the cathedral stairs, his lungs burning and his limbs trembling with exhaustion as he climbed the endless spiral toward the belfry. The silver bell was now glowing with a blinding, incandescent white light, its metal surface warping and stretching outward as if trying to break free from its oak mounting beams.
The Hidden Clapper
Reaching the belfry, Silas saw that the bronze clapper had detached itself from the beam and was suspended in mid-air in front of the bell, vibrating with terrifying kinetic energy. He grabbed the heavy wooden mallet from the floor and hurled it directly at the floating clapper, attempting to disrupt its frequency before the final shockwave detonated. The mallet struck the metal with a deafening, thunderous clang that shattered the absolute silence of the island and released a shockwave of pure sound that echoed across the North Sea for a hundred miles. The silver bell cracked down its entire length, splitting apart into two heavy halves that crashed onto the stone floor.
