The Case of the Midnight Lantern
Episode 5: The Intruder’s Path
Caleb turned his attention back to the smuggler’s cave, where the main contraband unloading operation was currently underway. Trapping the smuggling leader inside the coastal sea caves, Caleb prevents the salvage of illegal arms by blocking the narrow cavern exit with a fallen boulder. The smuggling leader, cornered by rising tide waters and blocked escape routes, emerged from the cave shadows with his hands raised in furious surrender. Federal marine police units, guided by Caleb’s emergency flare signals, pulled their patrol boats into the cove and swarmed the beach with weapons drawn. The smugglers were handcuffed and loaded into the patrol boats, their illegal weapons crates seized as primary evidence of an international arms-running syndicate. The intruder’s path of destruction had finally reached a dead end, blocked by the unwavering courage and tactical brilliance of the coastal warden.
Shining Bright
The storm finally broke as dawn painted the horizon in brilliant shades of gold and crimson, washing the coastal cliffs in warm morning light. The beacon is repaired and relit, safely guiding ships past the shoals while the coastal ring is taken into custody. Caleb Stone stood atop the Storm Point lighthouse observation gallery, watching the Fresnel lens rotate smoothly and cast a powerful, steady beam across the ocean. The lighthouse was once again a sanctuary of safety and guidance for every mariner sailing the stormy seas of the realm. The case of the midnight lantern was officially closed, leaving behind an indelible legend of duty, vigilance, and heroism along the windswept shores.
