Episode 1: The Double Reflection
Master glassmaker Julian Vance was commissioned to restore the grand Victorian mirror maze within the abandoned estate of Veridith Manor, nestled deep in the misty hills of the northern province. Arriving with his polishing kits and chemical solvents, Julian set up his workshop in the central hexagonal chamber of the labyrinth, surrounded by hundreds of antique floor-to-ceiling glass panels. As he began buffing a tarnished silvered pane on the northern wall, he noticed an alarming visual discrepancy: his reflection in the mirror was lagging half a second behind his physical movements, blinking after he had already opened his eyes and smiling with a twisted, malicious grin he had never intended. Julian paused, tapping his knuckles against the glass, but the double in the mirror simply stared back, refusing to mimic his gesture.
Glass Corridors
Determined to test the acoustic and optical properties of the maze, Julian walked down the narrow glass corridors, holding a candle to illuminate his path through the labyrinthine reflections. Every turn he took produced infinite repetitions of his figure stretching away into the hazy distance, yet something in the glass geometry was fundamentally warped. The corners did not align with the architectural blueprints he had studied; reflections in adjacent panels showed entirely different rooms—gardens bathed in nocturnal moonlight, empty operating theaters, and dark water rising against stone walls. When he turned back to retrace his steps toward the central chamber, the corridor behind him had vanished, replaced by a smooth, unbroken wall of solid glass that mirrored his terrified expression.
